Privacy Policy

ForkPeace, operated by JLD Concepts, LLC ("we," "us," "our"), takes your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it. We do not sell your personal data.

1. What We Collect

Account Information

• Email address and display name (provided at signup or invite)
• Password (hashed and stored securely by Supabase — we never see your plaintext password)
• Optional: profile photo URL you provide
• Optional: dietary restrictions you set on your profile

Family Data

• Family name and join code
• Recipes: names, descriptions, ingredients, instructions, images, tags, notes, source URLs
• Dinner logs: what was eaten and when
• Vote sessions and individual vote responses (liked/disliked per recipe)
• Pantry items
• Meal ratings and favorites

AI Usage Data

• When you use AI features, we log the action type, model used, approximate token counts, and timestamp. This is used to enforce plan limits and monitor costs.
• The actual content sent to AI models (recipe names, ingredient lists, pantry photos) is described in Section 3.

Billing Information

• We store a Stripe customer ID and subscription status to manage your plan.
• We do not store credit card numbers, CVVs, or full payment details — these go directly to Stripe.

Technical Data

• Standard server logs (IP addresses, request timestamps, error logs) retained for up to 30 days for security and debugging.
• We do not use advertising cookies or sell browsing behavior to advertisers.

2. How We Use Your Data

• To operate the Service — storing your recipes, running votes, logging dinners, sending family notifications.
• To power AI features — sending recipe/pantry data to Anthropic when you explicitly trigger an AI feature.
• To manage your subscription — billing, plan enforcement, usage limits.
• To send transactional emails — invite emails, vote notifications, dinner decision emails. We do not send marketing emails unless you opt in separately.
• To improve the Service — aggregate or de-identified usage patterns help us understand which features are used.
• For aggregate insights and in-app advertising — We may use aggregated or de-identified data that cannot reasonably be used to identify any individual to understand usage trends, develop product insights, and support potential in-app advertising or sponsored content programs. This data is never linked back to your personal information.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party providers to operate ForkPeace. Each processes data only as necessary to provide their service to us.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. We may, however, use aggregated or de-identified data for business purposes including potential advertising opportunities, as described in Section 2. We may disclose personal data only:

• To the third-party providers listed above, strictly for service operation.
• If required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of users.
• In connection with a merger or acquisition — you will be notified in advance.

Family members you invite can see the shared family data (recipes, dinner history, vote results) as part of normal app operation. This is intentional — it's how ForkPeace works.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

• Your data is retained as long as your account is active.
• To request account deletion, email jeff@dwoskinfamily.com. We will delete your account and associated data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., billing records).
• Encrypted backup copies held by our infrastructure providers may persist beyond 30 days before being permanently purged, subject to those providers' own retention policies.
• Billing records and certain transactional data may be retained longer where required by applicable law.

6. Security

We use industry-standard security practices: passwords are hashed (never stored in plaintext), all data in transit is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS), and database access is restricted by Row Level Security policies. However, no system is perfectly secure — please use a strong, unique password. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.

7. Children's Privacy

ForkPeace is not directed at children under 13. Children under 13 may be added as family members by a parent or guardian through a parent-managed family account — the parent or guardian is responsible for that account and any data associated with it. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an independent account without parental consent, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal data. To exercise any of the following, email jeff@dwoskinfamily.com. We will make reasonable efforts to respond within 30 days. Note that these are currently fulfilled manually on request.

• Access — request a summary of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correction — update or correct inaccurate data (most account and family data can be updated directly in the app).
• Deletion — request deletion of your account and associated data.
• Portability — request your recipe and dinner history data in a portable format. We will provide this upon request on a reasonable-efforts basis.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy at any time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change. We will make reasonable efforts to notify registered users of material changes. The current version is always available at forkpeace.com/privacy.
